It takes you straight out of your comfort zone and gives you the opportunity to meet new people, explore new cultures and open your eyes to different ways of living. 1. Avoiding Graduate Blues

Finishing University is a time for celebrating, going out with friends and making the most of last few days of what is a truly memorable experience. However, once the last drinks drunk, the last hungover conquered and you are sitting at the train station heading back home, the reality may start to kick in and you might become overwhelmed with panicked thoughts about what lays ahead. This is an occurrence some refer to as “Graduate Blues”. A recent study showed that 95% of Students see “Graduate Blues” as very real issue and according to the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), it is “extremely common” . It comes from a sense of disillusionment about finishing university and worry about what to do next. Although it is common, it is also very easy to overcome, just by making that all important next move and although it may not seem so, there […]

Travelling alone, has become increasingly popular over the years, especially for students and young adults. Which is obvious, as travelling alone helps you develop certain skills, like being independent, and gives you a getaway from a student’s hectic life. However, despite all this, travelling alone cannot really compare to travelling with a friend or a group of friends. Travelling with friends, is usually much more exciting than travelling on your own. Even before the trip even starts, you friends are eager to leave, especially when you start talking about ideas regarding what to do, which results in planning becomes more exciting. Since more people are involved, things to do become more diverse as usually, different people come up with different things, and introduce you to activities that you would have never thought of trying alone, that could end up becoming a hobby of yours. Travelling with a big group of […]

The Mediterranean, and the countries that make form part of it, are all absolutely gorgeous, whether travelling to a popular city, or a remote island. The list of activities to take part in, is never ending however, personally I believe some activities beat others. There is something for everyone, the numerous activities will suit every taste. Beach lovers will feel in heaven, food lovers will take their taste-buds on an exciting journey and the history geeks can continue widening their knowledge. Are you ready to pick your next vacation destination? If you are seeking sunshine, the best time to visit is between late April and the beginning of September. During peak seasons, July to August, the temperatures soar up to over 30s, especially if your are visiting the south of the Mediterranean. The Eastern Mediterranean, which stretches from the Adriatic through the Ionian Sea to the Aegean, represent the […]

The Mediterranean cuisine, although the concept it relatively new, it nevertheless, has a vast history, and is becoming increasingly popular all around the world. Mediterranean cuisine, unlike other traditional cuisines, doesn’t only refer to one country, culture or ethnicity however, refers to the region of countries one can find in the south of Europe; near the Mediterranean Sea. This cuisine is the result of globalisation; multiple cultures exchanging and introducing products to different cultures, like spices or herbs, causing them to be distributed, and influence different cultures all around the Mediterranean. Furthermore, many countries near and surrounding the Mediterranean having direct contact, this would cause the governments of different nationalities to over throw each other, which would lead to the cultures and traditions of the winning government, to mix with the traditions and cultures of original people from the respective country. The Mediterranean climate; warm summers, wet winters, also encouraged […]

Many times, when planning what to do whilst abroad, the main thing that is recommended to take part in, has to do with the cultural aspect of that country, for example visiting museums or going on tours. However, these points often ignore the fact that some people prefer being active, and would rather be out and about, than inside looking at historical important artifacts, and are left spending hours before their trip searching online for what activities can be done instead. The main thing these types of people could do when going abroad are things that relate to nature, that can be found at any location. These activities vary according to what countries you visit, therefore, no matter where you go there will always be a relatively new experience to undergo. Activities that relate to this are usually free, or inexpensive, and exciting. Examples of these activities, would include hiking […]

Taking a faraway destination trip, to a different continent even, could be the answer to achieve this. Travelling to another continent may sound like a crazy, and scary prospect however, it allows you to experience another culture and gives way for major self-development, even if for a short period of time. Travelling to another continent offers several advantages and skills, that one should take advantage of and experience in their lifetime. When visiting a completely different continent you are opened to a completely new world, especially when travelling to a country in need. The bubble one lives in at home is burst, causing you to mature and see the harsh reality that exist in some places of […]

The exact origins of ice-cream to this day is still unknown, referring to both the date, and period it was created and the inventor of the first types of ice-cream. However, even though the exact origins of ice-cream may not be possible to discover, there is still a vast and complicated history to how this dairy product ended up as being produced as it is and how it became so popular among the public. The History of Pizza

Pizza did not originate in the country for which it now famous. Yes, Iike many people, I always thought that Pizza originated in Italy. The origin of the word pizza is debatable. It is Italian for ‘pie’ and may have come from Latin ‘pitch’ or Greek ‘pitta’. However, the history of pizza goes a long way. The roots for Pizza were originally laid by the Greeks who first baked large, round and flat breads which they covered with oils, herbs and cheese. The first major change in the pizza was the use of tomato as a topping. While it is difficult to pinpoint who invented the Pizza, it is generally accepted that modern pizza was first made by baker Raffaele Esposito of Naples. Legend has it that the most typical Pizza, Pizza Margherita, was invented in 1889 in honour of Queen Margherita. Around 1889, Queen Margherita, accompanied by her […]

Some people claim that etiquette is no longer important, that the rules for good behaviour are old- fashioned and outdated. But on the other hand there are a lot of people who believe that good behaviour and manners never go out of style. Etiquette, just like any other cultural norms, evolve  to match the changes in society. Etiquette can be defined as behaviour that is pleasent and polite in different situations such as professional, social and family circumstances. Etiquette is not innate, it is acquired through a conscious learning of what constitutes decent behaviour. Etiquette is not universal, each society is characterized by its distinct etiquette. What is acceptable in one culture may be unacceptable in another. But why is etiquette so important? It helps us show respect and consideration towards other and most importantly it helps us form relationships with others. A lapse in etiquette may offend other people. […]
