Getting to know Sweden!

What comes to mind when you think about Sweden? If I had to answer this question the first three words that come to mind are: Ikea, Abba and Volvo! Well, joking aside, Sweden has much more to offer. The largest of the Scandinavian countries, with an area twice that of Britian, Sweden offers something for everyone. There are 9.7 million people in Sweden, of whom about 2 million are under the age of 18. Eighty- five percent of them live in the cities. It has a spectacular landscape, incredible cities, a friendly and educated population, breathtaking countryside and a rich history and culture. In Northern Sweden you can find the rural landscape and beautiful green forests while in the south you can witness all those little red small houses scattered all over. Good morning ya’ll! Sweden is a country that really fascinates me sometimes. I’ve been living here in Stockholm for almost two years now, so I’ve experienced all the seasons, twice. (Yep I survived the winters!) During the winter months Sweden feels a bit like The Day After Tomorrow. There’s no people around, you’re all huddled up with your friends in someone’s living room, reading, not burning books and waiting for Dennis Quaid to come and rescue you. If you meet people when you’re out walking with the snow striking against your face, everyone looks like you’re the first human they’ve seen in months, and you start questioning if they want to talk to you, or eat you. Best sites in Sweden

So we’re a gang of non-swedes that were planning to do a small Sweden trip before schools starts in september. We have about 3 weeks and a nice camper van so we thought we have to make the best of this. The start of our travel will of couse be Stockholm but now we’re a bit confused about where to go. Something we all want to see is the mountains, so we’ve seen that the closest mountains is in Härjedalen, which should be around 4 hours drive from here. After that we thought about going more north (sorry all northerners but Sweden is just too freaking bit). Then people told us to skip Värmland, so we’re thinking about maybe swing by Norway when we’re at it and go to the coast cities of Bergen and Stavanger, to come out in Oslo and hit the Swedish border on the west coast […]

Surfing in Sweden or Portugal

Hi everybody! I hope you’re all well this not to bad day in Stockholm. It’s my first time writing on the page and I’m gonna talk about something not so school related, but more about my reflections as an exchang student in Sweden. My name is Connor, I’m 24 years old and I’m from Lennox Head in New South Wales. If you haven’t heard about Lennox head, I’m not shocked or hurt. It’s a small surfing village just south of Byron Bay, another yet more famous surfing town in the northern part of NSW.
