The Joys of Summer Vacation

The Joys of Summer Vacation (1)

The warm season is approaching faster than we thought. So, I suggest you start planning now for the holiday of your dreams. More and more health experts are encouraging people to make the most out of their vacation days to go somewhere new, lie on a beach, learn how to ski, sip cocktails and do absolutely nothing- without feeling guilty!

Several studies have shown that these breaks from our everyday routine are very beneficial to our physiological and physical selves. Vacations, whatever form they take, give us time to unwind and examine our life from a new place and a totally new perspective. Traveling  somewhere new provides us with the opportunity to leave our old life behind us and learn about different cultures, face different challenges and look at the world from a totally new perspective.

What I really love about going to new places is that you wake up to different sights, tastes and feelings. Experiencing all these new senses help us appreciate our surroundings in day to day life. Relaxing is good for the mind, body and spirit. It is rehabilitating, rejuvenating and invigorates us. A good vacation helps us reconnect with ourselves and getting back to feeling our best.

I always look forward to taking a trip with my family or friends during summer. The destination is of course important, but not as important as being able to spend quality time with the people I love. It is very important for me to know that I am able to leave my worries and work behind and have a good time.

So, I think the question you are asking right now is:  Where to go? The choices are endless, daunting, but it is still a fun process to decide where to go. If you want to narrow down your vacation destination choices you should ask yourself the following four questions.

  • How long would you like to be away? Do you need a short holiday or longing for a long one? Do you have a tight schedule but would still like a short break? Make sure you know how many off days you would like to have and how far you are willing to go to start narrowing down the option.
  • What’s your idea of a perfect vacation? The problem with some people is that they go on vacations without a clear idea of they want to do and what they want to avoid. Research as much as possible, come up with a plan and figure out what you want to do. What comes to mind when you think about vacation? Is it laying on the beach? Biking around an island? Hiking in the mountains?
  • What’s your budget? Always set a budget for your holiday, this helps you avoid the stress and frustration of returning from a holiday and feeling guilty. Make a realistic budget, plan ahead and start saving for a well- deserved vacation.
  • Who do you want to take a holiday with? Do you want a relaxed vacation or you are looking forward to make some crazy memories with your friends? Do you need time alone or you want to spend time with family?  It is time for you to plan the perfect holiday as soon as possible.
