Summerburst Festival

Hi everyone, I hope you’re all happy today because I sure am! My summer is definitely kicking off with a good start, my friends just called me and she has won two ticket to Summerburst Festival that is kicking off this weekend, so we’re going! So the festival Summerburst have been taking place in Stockholm Stadion, a football stadium in central Stockholm. This year though they have chosen to move the whole festival to Gärdet, a big open space just outside the city. The artists this year is gonna be very big ones, Axwell and Ingrosso are the big Swedish artists that is coming this year, but they will be accompanied by artist no smaller then Afrojack, BlasterJaxx och Don Diablo and many more. I really feel like I have to dance in the summer heat, so this festival couldn’t come in a more perfect time. And to top this […]

Hi everone! So freedom (summer) is almost here isn’t it? Maybe the temperature has to work a bit harder to convince me that it really means business, but I do think it’s slowly creeping up on us. So what is everyone’s plans for the summer? I’ve been thinking and this summer I’m gonna do something I’ve never done before, something that I’ve been thinking about doing my whole life but it never happened. I’ve come up with a plan, and it should be possible without any complications I reckon. So my grand plan is to climb Kebnekaise this summer, Sweden’s highest mountain! You might say: “oooo it’s not that high it’s just only over two thousand meters so it shouldn’t be a big deal.” This might be true but it’s more the principle of climbing the highest mountain of my country that makes me want to do it. I’ve had […]

Hello people of the world! I read some good news the other day for the people of Stockholm (and for people of 19 other cities in the world). Stockholm is actually the fourth (4th!) safest city in the world! How good news isn’t that? It’s a study called “Safe Cities Index” made by the newspaper The Economist where they measure; 1. Personal safety, which looks at crime, police engagement etc. 2. They also look at Digital security, where they look at the city’s cybersecurity, identity thefts etc. 3. Health security which looks at life expectancy, numbers of hospitals and population. 4. Infrastructure safety that covers quality of roads and how many people die from natural disasters and the like. The study is topped by the Japanese capital Tokyo followed by Singapore in second place. Third place is taken by Osaka, followed by Stockholm on forth, and Amsterdam on fifth place. […]

Graduation times

Time is really going by like crazy. I can still remember the times when I used to live at home with my parents and my siblings in my hometown, but now I’m sitting here in Stockholm daily studying more hours than I can count on my own two hands. That I’m getting older myself is strange because sometimes I still feel like 13, but what really freaks me out is when people around me are getting older. That’s when you really realize that the years are just passing by. The freaking out of the day is that my younger brother is graduating High School or “Tar studenten” as we say in Swedish, roughly translated into “taking the student.” I feel like I just graduated and now it’s his turn, but that means that he’s 19 years old already? For me he’s just 10 years old and I just graduated, but […]

Heads up for the SAT’s!

Just a friendly reminder to all you people trying to get into college (and I do hope that’s most of you). The deadline for this summer’s SAT’s have already passed, but I can happily inform that you can still to a late registration through mail (before 22nd of May) or through phone or online (before 27th of May). So for all of you that missed the last date, there is still a chance to sign up for the test that is taking place on the 6th of June 2015.   The SAT is of course no stroll in the park and you will need to study a lot and plan your time to pass the test. But you shouldn’t just settle with passing the test. You’re going to make the best SAT you could dream of and be able to pick what university you want to go to without […]

I could easily make the statement that I have the most boring life in the world at the moment. If someone thinks that they can beat me, please contact me. All I’ve been doing the last months is studying, and there is a reason why studying is an abbreviation of student and dying. The last weeks we’ve been working on our final exams and thesis before the semester is over. The last year have run past like a whirlwind. It feels like I just sat down in the school bench for the first time thinking about what I got myself into, but now it feels like this is all I’ve ever done. I got to say that I’m really happy that I made the choice of starting at the XL-program at Stockholm School of Economics. I met people from all over the world and shared their cultures with mine, but […]

Work or travel?

When you’re starting to see the finish line of your studies it kind of freaks you out. Okay I’m not really there yet but after being in school for years and years there’s really no other reality then school. And of course this get you thinking what to do with your life when you finished with this only reality you had your whole life almost. Some of my friends knows exactly which company they want to go to, exactly what they want to do, and some other friends know that they don’t want to get that serious job quite yet. They either want to travel or write a book or go to a Yoga camp. Myself I think I’m a bit in the middle. I don’t really feel like I’m ready to find my place quite yet, I mean, I haven’t really seen to much of the world when I think […]

Sun and Studies!

Hello people! Sping is slowly starting to come here to Stockholm and it’s a beautiful period to spend some time outside! After a long and dark winter it is important to keep up the vitamin D level in the body, and what better way is there to do that then to get a serious tan? It’s a win-win situation! (And I have also been told beer contains some vitamin D, so I might give it a try.) Spring really make this city come alive, especially for us students. It’s been a lot of studying lately, being locked in our rooms with liters and liters of coffee, ignoring the bliztering winter outside. But soon the summer is coming thankfully! Before summer there is one last big essay to be done, it has to be in the area of Global Marketing through technology. I was talking to a friend today about how […]

Easter

Hi everyone! It has been a great weekend for the students of the MCXL programme. We have had 4 days off without any studies what so ever and it has been so nice! It is fun to be a student but it is also very demanding, to have studie breaks once in a while is important to keep up with the motivation to school related stuff. Tomorrow we are going back to the usual school days. We are gonna start a new, exciting project tomorrow: an essay related to a problem in the society. I have choosen compulsive gaming as the subject of my essay. Other students chose subjects such as  alcoholism, victimization and so on. The reason I chose compulsive gaming is because my older brother use to be a game addict and that caused a lot of problems both for him and people arround him. Compulsive gaming is […]

Music matters

While studying for the final exams I just wanted to share some inspirational music that helped me a lot in the learning process. Studies have proven that music helps to learn new things, therefore listening to music while studying will improve your results! Studies states: “Listening to music for relaxation is common among students to counter the effects of stress or anxiety while completing difficult academic tasks. Some studies supporting this technique have shown that background music promotes cognitive performance while other studies have shown that listening to music while engaged in complex cognitive tasks can  impair performance. This study focuses on the impact different genres of music, played at different volume levels, have on the cognitive abilities of college students completing academic tasks.”   I like to listen to calm music in the background, if the volume gets to loud I find it hard to concentrate. Above I´ve attached […]
